Talk about an ideal way to start off your week, with Oprah’s Life Class. On Monday April 16, 2012 the In the Loop team shared in one of the most immense communal experiences ever. Ms. Oprah Winfrey and several of her favourite motivational speakers/life teachers joined her here in Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for the very first time to bring Canadians her LifeClass Tour. Tony Robins, Iyanla Vanzant, Deepak Chopra and Bishop T.D. Jakes took the stage and engaged us in a dynamic curriculum that opened everyone’s eyes to a new way of showing appreciation, gratitude and most important forgiveness. It is not every day that opportunities such as this arrive, like Oprah says when preparation meets opportunity that equals success. Our team has known one another for more than a decade. One of the things on our to-do list/vision board was to meet and attend an Oprah Winfrey show. When you open the door and prepare yourself to receive a blessing, blessings come in abundance. Not only did we attend this event and learn divine life lessons. We met some of the most passionate people from across Canada. We now are equipped with the knowledge of life’s key lessons along with lifelong friends. This was a momentous event that will change everything in a person’s life. From the way we walk to the way we talk and interact with others will be better and greater because of the motivation we received from life class. Thank you Ms. Winfrey! Thank you to Oprah’s team who welcomed each and every one of us with a smile so bright and early in the morning. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We are gratified that we were able to participate in a joyous event with such phenomenal people.
We took notes and here are some of the lessons we learned that we are happy to keep you in the loop on:
1. Gratitude is the Attitude. It is important to understand that everything is a gift. Breathe, life, the people in your life, the things you have they are all gifts. Oprah journals the things she is grateful for and every day writes down at least five things that she is grateful for. When you feel down and out take some time to reflect and think about all of the things that you are grateful for. When you are content with what you have you will have more. This is a great activity to practice with children as well. It illustrates appreciation to them and they comprehend the meaning of truly being able to give/share.
2. Decisions, not conditions, determine your destiny. You do not have to become a product of your environment. How you live your life is totally up to you. You have the choice to decide how the situations in your life can drive you or destroy you. Motion creates emotion. So remember that negative motion equals negative emotions and positive motion results in positive emotions.
3. Change will come and it is good. There will be many stops in life and whether or not they are good stops or bad stops use those stops as learning experiences that may create opportunities for you to become a better person.
4. DELETE! Do not be afraid to delete negative in your life. Remember that you deserve to live the best life. Two of the things that hold people back most are fear and anger. If you are always fearful or angry and blaming others for your situation you need to delete that state of mind that you are in.
5 Don’t expect. Appreciate! Too often it becomes the habit to expect and have a sense of entitlement in situations. When you expect someone or something to come through for you it is easy to set yourself up for disappointment and an excuse for why something wasn’t done. Try to make it a habit to appreciate the small and large about people, things and the purpose that they serve in your life.
6. Feelings are contagious. Just like a yawn and a motion that creates an emotion happiness is contagious. Surround yourself with positive people and those that uplift you. You’ll see the difference instantaneously as you redirect negative motions into positive.
7. The book of you. Everyone has a story and there is no other that is more significant than the other. You do not have to be your story just as not all people become products of their environment. Just because you have had someone put you down or you have been telling yourself that you are not good enough doesn’t mean that you are that story. If you want to change your life change your words, change your story.
8. Living like life is golden. P.A.I.N also means Pay. Attention. Inward. Now. Live your life on purpose and with meaning. Everyone has a purpose in life. When you determine that you are going to life your best life on purpose things start to become less foggy and much clearer. Do not put negative limitations on yourself. Build yourself up and create a great story making a better you.
Be your best you and don’t forget to keep in the loop!
Sincerely,
Nina @ninahalliedixon
